Chewy Sugar Cookies

I don’t like long posts where it takes multiple minutes of reading to get to the recipe, so here the recipe is: (p.s. This is my families favorite sugar cookie recipe. It’s mine, personally)

p.s.s., I forgot to take a picture of the sugar cookies so I posted a picture of our chickens eggs. It’s totally fine.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

1 Cup butter

1 Cup sugar

1/4 Cup brown sugar

1 XL egg (large is fine)

1 Tablespoon Vanilla extract (I like pure)

1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

1/2 teaspoon lemon or orange extract (optional)

1/2 teaspoon lemon or orange peel zest

3 Cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 pinch of salt

1/2 cup sprinkles, m&m, nuts, or other candy (optional)

*food coloring is also optional* (I suggest 5-10 drops if liquid or gel, 1/2 teaspoon if powder)

Directions:

Beat together butter, sugar, egg, and extracts or zests. Slow down mixer if using one. Add flour, baking soda and baking powder, and salt. Once all mixed together, add any add-ins.

Bake 10-15 minutes, depending on oven type and crunchiness preference. (I like mine nearly raw). Makes 24 / 2 dozen cookies.

Enjoy! 🥰
